Homework 12/9/08

Period 4
  1. Complete the graphic organizer that was passed out today.
  2. You are supposed to find details from "The Seafarer" and put them in the bubbles AND include the page number.
  3. The details that you include should support your response at the bottom of the sheet that says what you think the mood of the poem is.
  4. STUDY FOR VOCAB QUIZ
Period 5
  1. Look up and highlight the words God, Fate, Heaven, Sadness and in 1-4 sentences (for each) explain why they are important. Why are they significant? Why are they repeated so much?
  2. Make a list of powerful adjectives that are associated with the ideas of pain/sorrow AND love/happiness. You should find at the very least 3-4 words for each column.
  3. Look at the section with the birds and explain what their role is in the overall message of the poems.
  4. Write what commentary on life is given in both of the poems. Is it good or bad or what else is being said about it?
  5. STUDY FOR VOCAB QUIZ

1.The wedding reception was so big that we had to move it to a bigger room.
2.Her incipient jealousy became to show by her clinging onto her boyfriend.
3.I could sense that she was perceptible because of the way she was acting.
4.The girl was very susceptible to peer-pressure because she was really insecure.
5.The affinity of the girl and the boy was so strong that the parents didn’t agree with it, because it was not right for teenagers.
6.What the girl thought to be a definitive answer would actually turn to be incorrect.
7.The ant was very infinitesimal.
8.The girl had a lot of infinitive dreams but most of those dreams were finite.

2. His incipient affection her gave her came to show that he fell in love with her.
3. The change in his attitude was perceptible.
4. I'm very susceptible to her influence.
5. The affinity between the teenagers was extremely strong.
6. Unfortunately what the supervisors told e was definitive.
7. Fruit flies are very infinitesimal.
8. Her risks were finite.
