Homework

Homework
1. Read "We Are Seven" poem that was handed out in class
2. Write a summary about the poem. Include things like: Who does the poem talk about? What is the poems message? etc.

3. Read the preface to Lyrical Ballads. ( I included the link, Alyssa, but you may still want to try to read the introduction stuff before the preface. It explains quite a bit of useful info.)
4. Write 4 important facts from the preface. Consider the following questions?
What is Wordsworth telling us? What points does he make about poetry? What are some of his ideas regarding the writing?

Homework

I'm sorry to hear that some of you were not pleased with the substitute teacher, but I hope it was an overall good day. (Well, as good as it could be with out ME ;-) Just kidding )

Now for your homework...
I heard that some of you were having trouble understanding the prompt, so you should know that all I want is for you to think of the poem you have read for the past 2 days and try to write something similar to it. Please take a look at the prompt once more.

Imagine that you have been away from a special place that holds many memories for you. Write a brief conversation poem in blank verse in which you tell someone else how you feel as you return to this place for the first time in five years. Use a conversational tone.

Conversation poem: usu. A deeply personal meditation addressed to a silent listener or a loved one who is absent or asleep. A spontaneous utterance of the speaker’s thoughts and feelings.

Blank Verse: natural sounding, flowing style of poetry that echoes the rhythms of everyday speech. (do not worry about the iambic feet at this point)

I know it's a bit late, but just wanted to make sure you remembered that your homework is to translate "A Few lines composed above Tintern Abbey" on the handout I gave you. Did you forget I gave you a handout? Don't forget.

Enjoy your day without me! :-)

Your homework for tomorrow night will be on here as well, but check the board in class.
