10/1/10 Classwork

Period 4
The quote to analyze for today:

If any ambitious man have a fancy to revolutionize, at one effort, the universal world of human thought, human opinion, and human sentiment, the opportunity is his own -- the road to immortal renown lies straight, open, and unencumbered before him. All that he has to do is to write and publish a very little book. Its title should be simple -- a few plain words -- My Heart Laid Bare. But -- this little book must be true to its title.
-Edgar Allen Poe

Look up the word "renown"
Remember that it's a paraphrase of the quote first and then how it relates to life (your own or someone else's you know )

Period 5
Type a 1-2 page, double-spaced, 12 pt font essay reflection. The reflection should answer the following questions:

1. How well do you think you did on your Research Paper? What grade do you think it earned based on the rubric it will be graded on? What parts of your paper do you think would earn you the grade you think you deserve?

2. What was the hardest thing about the whole research paper project? (Doing research? Understanding your research? Figuring out how the research fit in with your thesis? Figuring out your thesis? Creating an outline? Time management? Putting sentences together? or anything else)

3. How much effort do you think you put into this project? Explain why you think that. Give examples.

4. How prepared do you think you were for this project? How do you think that you could have been better prepared for this project? Do you think that classes in your past have prepared you for this type of a project? What would you like to have done in classes prior to prepare you?

5. How do you feel about yourself and your skills now that you are done with the project? How would you grade yourself on the whole, overall quarter (this includes your attitude, work effort, meeting time lines, etc. = the whole thing!)
