Homework 10/6/10

Period 4
If you're not caught up on quickwrites and quote analyses, get caught up. I highly encourage all of you to do the extra credit since essay scores aren't the most promising. It's better to be on the safe side.
Oh and FYI: I only got 5 Personality Quickwrites AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT SOME OF YOU ARE WAITING FOR TO UPDATE YOUR OWN BLOGS!! EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST 1-2 EDITED QUICKWRITES ON THEIR BLOGS.
BAAADDD CHUM CHUM!!!!! :(

Both periods: Check your email and fill out form. Even if I follow your blog or if you've done this for 11th grade English.

Period 5
Analyze the following quote:
We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.
- Winston Churchill

Remember that you must:
1. Paraphrase the quote. Tell me what it means and explain it so that anyone who reads, could understand what the quote means. (imagine that you are explaining it to a 6th grader)
2. Tell me how the idea/ message that is being presented, has affected your life or the life of someone you know. If it hasn't then explain when it could be applied.

If you didn't get to finish the classwork or were absent, the quote is below.

Classwork quote (Education quote)
"Education should have two objects: first to give definite knowledge, reading and writing, language and mathematics, and so on; secondly, to create those mental habits which will enable people to acquire knowledge and from sound judgments for themselves."
-Bertrand Russell
