Read pg. 52-59 in big fat packet. Find and define words that you don't know on the packet or on separate sheet of paper.
Be ready for a reading quiz on this section.

Informal hwk- start thinking of your hero and what type of conflict he/she could get involved in. Do you see an incipient assignment?

  • If you were a superhero, What type of hero would you be? Who would you fight? Would you have superpowers and if so, what would they be? What would be your cause in life (who would you help)? What would be your top 3 qualities (characteristics)?
  • Read Grendel's Mother and the Battle with Grendel's Mother and answer the 5 questions at the end of the section.

  • Write a 1/2 page response where you describe IN DETAIL what an epic hero would look like if you were to create on.
Would it be a lot like Beowulf or would he/she be very different?
What would be its characteristics?
Where would they be from?
Who would they protect? Or what would be their line of business?
What time period would they live in?
Any other details you would want to include.

Complete your essays.
Make sure you look at your checklist and rubric to see if you have all of the elements you need.
Pay special attention to the grade break down.
Remember that if it is sent to me past 4:00pm on Sunday, it will be docked 5 pts for being late. These are points that some of you cannot afford to lose.
Make sure that you have another set of eyes read you stuff. Choose someone that will tell you the truth and not just what you want to hear. For example:
